Noctory records audio only when you start a sleep recording session. Recordings, clips, labels, onboarding answers, language choice, and night history are stored locally on your device and can be deleted from Settings.
The app may create audio files during a recording session. These files are used to help you review sleep sounds and generated labels. You control whether recordings are shared or exported from your device.
Noctory first detects sound events on your device. In version 1.3, it sends up to seven short audio excerpts per completed or imported night to OpenAI through ShortsBlink for estimated sound labels. Each excerpt is at most 10 seconds; the full overnight recording is not uploaded for labeling. Audio may include voices or other sounds near the phone. Labels can be wrong, including confusion between speech, noise and silence, and are not medical assessments. If the service fails or returns an invalid label, the app keeps the local result and your original recording. The app does not sell recordings or use them for advertising.
Separately from short-clip labeling, the optional AI morning summary sends aggregate sound-label counts and device language through our gateway to OpenAI or Google Gemini after you agree in the app. This summary request does not include audio. The complete recording remains on your phone unless you export it yourself.
The gateway records the app, a random installation identifier, country, language, app environment, model, request input and output (including the selected audio excerpts and returned labels for audio-label requests), status, timing, and cost for up to 90 days for feature operation, failure and abuse investigation, and spending controls. These records are not used for advertising or cross-app tracking. You can decline and continue using Noctory without the AI summary.
Purchases and subscription status are handled by Apple StoreKit. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
The app may collect crash or error diagnostics if diagnostics tooling is enabled. Diagnostics are used only to improve app stability and are not used for advertising tracking.
