Review the action, not just the permission dialog
A system photo picker lets you select an image for an app. It does not by itself tell you whether a later preview action sends that image to a server. Read the feature’s disclosure and current privacy policy before approving processing. Choose an image you have the right to submit and avoid including other people or private background information unnecessarily.
FTC consumer guidance recommends reviewing app permissions and privacy information. This checklist is an original way to organize those questions; it is not a legal certification, a security audit or a guarantee about any service. A product name containing AI does not identify all recipients or their retention policies.
Separate the image itself from usage analytics and purchase handling. A service may need an image for a requested preview and use different systems for technical events or subscription status. “No account” does not automatically mean no network processing or no data collection.
Worked decision card for an optional GILD AI preview
The public GILD AI privacy policy checked October 22, 2026 describes an optional photo preview, a separate consent choice and a manual tutorial route. Treat the following as a dated reading of that policy. It is not proof that every installed version behaves identically or that a remote recipient has deleted a particular upload.
| Question | Current policy describes | Your decision/check |
|---|---|---|
| What is sent? | Selected photo and named style for the requested preview | Review selected image and action |
| Who processes it? | Smart Automation SRL processing proxy, then Replicate | Read both policies |
| Can I decline? | Manual tutorial route | Check the actual installed screen |
| Can I withdraw? | Profile withdrawal blocks future uploads until renewed consent | Past processing is not undone |
| How long is it kept? | Proxy says no intentional photo/result persistence; provider has own terms | No universal deletion deadline established here |
Fictional decision: the reader understands the purpose but needs a fixed provider retention deadline and cannot establish one for their exact workflow. The sensible result of this checklist is “do not upload yet; use manual guidance or ask the operator.” It is not “probably safe because the app has no login.”
Our current source check finds an explicit consent guard before photo processing and a Profile withdrawal control. This is source evidence, not an on-device or end-to-end deletion test. The preview path uses network processing; no selfie was uploaded for this article.
Keep withdrawal, local deletion and remote retention separate
Withdrawing permission can stop future uploads without retracting a request already processed. Removing a local image or uninstalling an app does not by itself demonstrate deletion of every remote copy or operational record. Check which party controls the relevant data and what the policy says about requests.
The GILD AI policy names Mixpanel for product analytics and Apple for purchases, separately from Replicate for AI image processing. It states that photo content is not sent to Mixpanel. These are policy statements, not a claim that this article independently audited all traffic or vendor retention settings.
Read the processor’s current terms rather than assuming the app operator’s local-storage statement covers every recipient. Ask a focused question without attaching a private selfie: name the app, feature and retention concern. If you do not receive an adequate answer for your needs, retain the manual route.
GILD AI offers a preview, not a privacy or appearance guarantee
The current Apple listing describes photo-based AI makeup previews. The public policy also describes recommendations and manual tutorials. We publish GILD AI and provide these links so you can assess the actual choice before using the feature.
The short Apple description does not specify every preview credit, subscription limit or current availability condition. Check the installed app and purchase screen. Generated makeup images may differ from real cosmetics, lighting and your face; they are not a product-allergy assessment or a guaranteed physical result.
The CSV contains questions and review states only; do not put photos, account identifiers or private image URLs in it. This privacy decision guide is distinct from the linked makeup-comparison guide, which helps assess an optional visual result after you have made an informed processing choice.

Use the CSV in Numbers, Excel or a spreadsheet editor. Five policy-review prompts and a blank row. No photo, personal identifier, private URL or deletion certificate. Replace them with your own observations. The CSV is separate from the app and no email is required.
Questions answered
Is choosing a photo the same as authorizing an upload?
No. Review the separate action and disclosure about sending it.
Does withdrawing consent delete past processing?
Not automatically. Check the responsible recipient and its retention/deletion process.
Did this article test deletion at every provider?
No. It reviewed current public policies and local source; no selfie was uploaded.
