PlumeCue terms

Terms of Use

Bird Identifier: PlumeCue
Effective and last updated: September 6, 2026

Agreement and service

These terms apply when you use Bird Identifier: PlumeCue, provided by Smart Automation SRL. PlumeCue helps recreational birdwatchers use one photo or a 3–30 second call to review up to three regional species candidates and save a confirmed or unconfirmed local field note.

By using the app, you agree to these terms and, where applicable, Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Mandatory consumer rights in your country continue to apply.

AI suggestions are not identification certainty

PlumeCue uses a Google Gemini service to suggest a shortlist, then validates candidate identifiers against local catalog and regional data. AI output, local data, match strength, range, season, field marks, and reference media may still be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. You remain responsible for the final identification.

PlumeCue is for recreational comparison and learning. Do not rely on it for scientific records, conservation enforcement, biosecurity, hunting, wildlife capture or handling, poison or danger decisions, emergencies, or professional advice. Cross-check rare, sensitive, dangerous, or uncertain observations with an authoritative field guide or qualified local expert.

Free access and PlumeCue Plus

The free tier includes three successful real-media identifications and their saved results. Labeled practice samples, the offline Field Guide, and the newest three real sightings remain available without Plus. PlumeCue Plus may be offered as weekly and yearly auto-renewable subscriptions; both remove the three-result allowance and unlock complete retained real-sighting history. “Unlimited” identifications remain subject to the in-app limit of six requests per minute as well as file, duration, regional, safety, device, network, provider, and fair-use limits, and do not guarantee a result.

Acceptable use

You may use PlumeCue only lawfully and for its intended personal field-guide purpose. You agree not to:

Your media and saved content

You keep your rights in media and notes you provide. You authorize only the processing reasonably necessary to prepare an identification request, return candidate data, save your local field note, and complete an export or share action you explicitly choose. You are responsible for having permission to use submitted media and for the content you share.

PlumeCue’s software, design, bundled catalog presentation, and original content remain protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Third-party species data and reference media remain subject to their stated licenses and attributions.

Availability, changes, and termination

Identification requires a supported device, compatible media, a selected country or U.S. state/DC, and network access to Google’s provider service. The manual Guide and saved local data may remain usable offline. We may update models, catalog versions, limits, features, or provider integrations for accuracy, security, legal, or operational reasons. Material changes to data use will be reflected in the Privacy Policy before release.

We may suspend access needed to protect the service, comply with law, or respond to misuse. You may stop using the app at any time. Subscription cancellation is handled separately through Apple.

Disclaimers and limitation

To the extent permitted by law, PlumeCue is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties that every species will be covered, every request will succeed, every result will be correct, or the service will be uninterrupted. To the extent permitted by law, Smart Automation SRL is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or wildlife-related loss arising from reliance on a suggestion. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or remedies that cannot legally be excluded.

Minors

PlumeCue is not directed specifically to children. A parent or guardian should supervise a minor’s use and ensure that no person’s image, voice, location, or other personal information is submitted. Stop using the AI identification feature if you cannot provide lawful consent for the media.
